Rats - 3D printed figures of rats, 25 pieces

This is a set of small animal figures, not a kit of a vehicle and not diorama material of the earth or grass kind. The package contains twenty-five pieces of 3D printed rats. Small animals have a disproportionately large effect in a scene for their size: two or three rats by some refuse, on a beam or along a wall give a scene scale and a story without drawing attention away from the main figure or model. That is exactly why they are sold in greater numbers, as it is reckoned that several will go into a scene and the rest will stay in reserve.

Building and painting

• First look the castings over, remove the remains of the print supports and clean up the area under the belly, so that a figure sits straight on the surface.
• Handle the parts with tweezers, as the tails and legs are among the most fragile places on prints this small.
• They are glued with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate. Cement for polystyrene will not help here.
• Apply a thin primer before painting, as without it an acrylic holds worse on a smooth printed surface.
• Paint with a dark base and a lighter dry brush along the fur; at this size the texture does more than exact shading. Suggesting the eyes and ears is enough.
• A light dark wash in the hollows brings out the fur and the transition between the body and the surface.

Who the set is for

For diorama and figure modelers who build urban, cellar, trench or fantasy scenes and want to bring them to life with a detail that catches the attention only on a closer look. Thanks to the higher number of pieces in the package the set is enough for several dioramas.

The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
