A modeling paint in a blue shade that the maker lists under the name RX-78 Blue. It belongs to the Gunze Mr.Color range, among the paints for Gundam kits. The RX-78 designation is carried by one of the machines of that setting, and the group of shades named after it holds together the colors of one scheme. Thanks to that the individual areas of a model can be painted without mixing and without looking for a substitute from another brand.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before starting, as the pigment settles to the bottom while it stands and the shade would otherwise drift. Use the thinner intended for this range and keep the thinning ratio and the method of application as the maker's instructions on the box give them. Apply in several thin coats with a short pause between them; a single heavy coat will flood fine detail and dries unevenly. Wash and degrease the surface of the parts beforehand.
A deep blue looks darker on a small area than it does on a color chart. It helps to leave the shadows in the original tone and lighten the upper surfaces very slightly, so that the model does not look flat. Apply masking tape only to a perfectly dried coat and remove it slowly at a shallow angle, so that it does not tear the edge away with it. Close the bottle as soon as you have taken paint out and store it dry and away from frost.
