S048 Clear Yellow Spray

Gunze Mr.Color Spray Clear Yellow (clear lacquer aerosol, 40 ml)

A lacquer spray from the Mr.Color line by the Japanese brand Gunze. Note that this is a clear (transparent) yellow with no covering power. It does not behave like an ordinary paint: it colors the base translucently, like stained glass, so the final tone is set by whatever lies underneath. The package is a 40 ml pressurized can and it sprays straight from the aerosol, with no airbrush or compressor needed.

Use

• Coloring transparent parts: turn signals, position and marker lights, lenses, which gain realistically yellow glass.
• Candy or gold effect: applied over a silver or metallic base it gives a glowing golden, almost honey cast.
• Tinting: a gentle yellowing, an imitation of aged, yellow-tinged varnish or old glass.
• Spray thinly and in several coats from about 25 cm, because the base has to show through. Every further coat deepens the shade, while a heavy application leaves blotches.
• It shows best on a smooth, finely sanded and preferably metallic base.

Who it is for

For modelers who need a clear tinting color rather than an opaque yellow, for lights, gold candy effects and coloring transparent parts on cars, motorcycles, aircraft and sci-fi models. A silver or metallic spray makes a glowing base beneath a gold candy shade, and the finished surface can be sealed with a clear coat.

Mr.Color is a lacquer: the solvent can attack bare plastic and some transparent parts, so test first and spray in thin coats. Work only in a well-ventilated space or outdoors and use a respirator. Flammable, do not spray near open flame. In damp or cold conditions the surface may blush.
