Gunze Mr.Color Spray S079 Shine Red (gloss)

A lacquer aerosol spray in a brilliant, bright red with a high gloss by the Japanese brand Gunze (GSI Creos), the Mr.Color Spray range. It is a more saturated, more brilliant red than the ordinary shade and it sprays straight from the can, without an airbrush and a compressor. It is neither an acrylic nor an enamel — Mr.Color is a lacquer with a solvent chemistry of its own; it holds as a firm glossy film, but at the same time it attacks bare plastic slightly.

Use

• Shake the can thoroughly before spraying and during the work so that the pigment is mixed through evenly.
• Lay it down in thin coats from a distance of roughly 25 cm; rather more thin coats than one heavy one.
• Red has weaker coverage and shows through toward pink over dark or bare plastic — lay it over a light, ideally white or pink surface, which at the same time protects the plastic from the lacquer.
• You reach a full, saturated red gradually, over several coats.
• The high gloss is ideal under decals and on glossy bodies and can be deepened further with a clear coat on top.
• Work in warm, dry conditions and in a well-ventilated space; in damp or cold the lacquer may whiten.

Who it is for

For modelers who want a strong, racing red without mixing and without an airbrush — sports and racing cars in the style of Italian sports cars, custom builds and mecha. It comes through on the large glossy areas of bodies as well as a glossy base under decals.

Safety: a lacquer spray — flammable, the vapors irritate the airways. Use a respirator, spray only in a well-ventilated space away from open flame and out of the reach of children.
