About product

Gunze Mr.Color Spray S117 RLM76 Light Blue (Semi Gloss)

A modeling spray from the Mr.Color lacquer line by the Japanese brand Gunze. The RLM76 Light Blue shade is the light blue-gray color of the undersurfaces and sides of German aircraft of the late phase of the Second World War. It replaced the earlier RLM65 shade. RLM designates the standard of the German air ministry of the time (Reichsluftfahrtministerium), by which the shades of aircraft camouflage were unified. For an authentically built German aircraft the correct RLM shade is therefore essential. The surface is semi gloss. Note: it is not an acrylic but a solvent-based lacquer.

RLM76 versus RLM65 - do not mix them up

RLM76 is the late shade of the undersurfaces and sides - a light blue-gray. Before it, RLM65 Light Blue was used, which is the early light blue of the war (the era of the Battle of Britain, the Bf 109 E). Choose the right one of the pair according to the period you are building: RLM76 means late, RLM65 means early.

Use

  • shake the can thoroughly and spray thin coats from about 25 cm in warm, dry conditions
  • the aerosol sprays straight from the can, without an airbrush
  • the lacquer attacks bare plastic - on sensitive parts consider a primer
  • to finish a late camouflage, the upper RLM shades, a matte varnish, washes and German aircraft decals make good companions

Who it is for

For builders of German Second World War aircraft who want the historically correct color of the undersurfaces and sides of late machines.

Safety: a lacquer aerosol is highly flammable and the fumes are harmful to health. Work in a well-ventilated area or outdoors, use a respirator, and keep away from open flame and sources of sparks. Keep out of the reach of children.
