A set of six fine sanding sponges with a grit of P800 to P1000. The flexible foam backing adapts to the shape of the part, so it sands rounded surfaces, transitions and hard-to-reach places well, where rigid sandpaper fails and does not sit down. Grit in this range is fine, ideal for finishing work and for preparing the surface before painting; do not expect it to remove material coarsely or to do serious shaping, which is what coarser grits are for. Unlike paper, a sponge keeps a constant pressure even on an intricate surface, so it does not ripple the surface or create flat spots.
A universal aid for every modeler from beginner to professional, and one of the things experienced builders always keep at hand. The sponges can be used dry or wet; sanding wet reduces the dust and gives a smoother result. After rinsing in water they can be used again and again, until the grit clogs or wears out.
When sanding, especially resin and fillers, protect your airways and work in a ventilated area. Sanding wet reduces the amount of dust.
