Vallejo acrylic paint from the True Metallic Metal range in the ultramarine blue shade, designated as the BASE undercoat step.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ultramarine is a rich deep blue with a cast toward purple, a shade that behaves on a model and on a figure like a full color, not like a timid tone. This bottle belongs to the Vallejo True Metallic Metal range and carries the BASE designation, that is the undercoat step of the range, on which the further layers are only then built. It is an acrylic paint.
The approach the range is named after builds a metallic look on genuine metallic shades, not on a painted illusion made of light and dark grays. In such a procedure the colored undercoat determines what the resulting metal will be tuned to: over a blue base the tone comes out cooler and darker than over a brown or a gray one. Ultramarine blue is therefore useful where the metal should have a cool undertone, and it serves just as well as a stand-alone opaque blue.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply in several thin layers and let the surface dry between them, a single heavy layer floods both the engraving and the fine relief. Rich blues benefit from a light base; over a dark undercoat more layers are needed. The recommended thinning, the way of applying it and how the further steps of the range follow on are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging and in the instructions for the range.
The paint itself is supplied. Thinner, primer, varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Work in a ventilated room and store the bottle closed and out of reach of children.
