A dark blue acrylic paint of the Xpress Color line for coloring a figure quickly in a single application. It runs into the hollows by itself and brings out the relief.
Responsibility details are not available.
Storm Blue belongs among the thicker acrylic paints of the Xpress Color line. It is applied in a single stroke, runs into the hollows by itself and stays more translucent on the raised places, so the relief is brought out without laborious shading. The resulting tone is a saturated blue sharpened with gray: it suits cloaks, naval uniforms, canvas and the blue parts of fantasy armor, where the color should be strong but not garish.
The coat is thin and dries to a matte appearance. That is exactly why it wears through faster on the sharp edges of a figure you pick up often than an ordinary covering paint does: there is no thick reserve of pigment beneath it to make up for the rubbing. With figures meant for play it therefore pays to seal the surface once finished with a protective varnish, whether from a spray or by brush. Only a varnished shade will take tabletop service without changing and will not start showing the ground through after a few games.
Shake the bottle properly before every use, as the pigment settles to the bottom in the thin binder and from the top an almost clear application would run off. It thins with water; rinse the brush out at once, while the paint is soft, because dried remains in the bristles will no longer give way to water alone. Overdoing the thinning will moreover rob the shade of saturation and the surface will stop behaving the way this line is expected to.
It works best on a light ground, ideally white or sand. On a dark ground it will read almost black and the difference between a hollow and an edge will be lost.
