A set of yellow shades from the Game Color acrylic line by Vallejo. Yellow needs a light ground and several thin coats.
Responsibility details are not available.
A selection of water-based acrylic paints from the Game Color line, which Vallejo put together for figures for tabletop games and for fantasy subjects. The set is aimed at yellow, that is at the color most painters have the most trouble with. The shades come from one line, so they can be mixed with one another and the transition between them stays smooth.
Yellow pigment covers worse than almost all the others. On a dark ground it looks dirty and even after several coats what is beneath shows through. The answer is a light ground: white or light gray, or else an intermediate coat in a sand or ocher color. Only on that will yellow light up. Apply the coats thinly and let each one dry, as a heavy coat dries unevenly and the paint draws together into blotches.
Do not shade yellow with black or gray, as the result will go green or gray. Build the shadow on the warm side: an orange, brown or ocher drawn into the hollows will keep the color alive. The highlights, by contrast, should not be drawn out in pure white but in a yellow lightened with a very little white, or the shade will fall apart. On the areas of coats of arms, cloaks and shields it pays to lay a test stroke aside first and judge how many coats are really needed.
For painters of figures who need yellow for coats of arms, cloaks, shields or for striking unit emblems. Figures, brushes and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
