A cast resin set of accessories for the BA-64B light armored car in German service, 1:35 scale, from the Czech maker Black Dog. The (r) suffix corresponds to the German designation of captured equipment of Soviet origin. The set holds separate parts of equipment and cargo for a finished model. As base kit it names the BA-64B from Lanmo Models.
The BA-64 was a Soviet light armored car built on the chassis of the GAZ cross-country vehicle. It had an armored body of faceted plates and an open turret with a machine gun. From 1943 the BA-64B version had a wider wheel track and was markedly more stable. The cars served for reconnaissance and liaison, and the German side used several captured examples too, usually with added equipment and different markings.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. With a captured car it works well to let the original paint show through the new German coat.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
