The manufacturer ties the set to one particular version of the rack, which it designates as the first pattern, and to the days of fighting at Kharkov and Kursk in 1943.
The Panzer III version M was the late form of this medium tank, armed with a 5 cm gun with a long barrel and recognizable by its wading exhaust. In 1943 these machines made up the core of the Waffen-SS tank companies and served with the 3rd SS Division Totenkopf as well in the fighting for Kharkov and later in the Kursk operation. Eleven times twenty liters of gasoline extra was a question of range over Russian distances, and so the units welded their own racks for jerrycans. They did not come about to a single drawing, so their arrangement differed from vehicle to vehicle. That is exactly what makes the accessory interesting: it gives the model a particular, photographically documented form instead of a generic one.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water first, so that the paint will hold. Cut the casting gates and the marks left by the supports off with a saw or a sharp knife and sand them down; protect your airways while sanding and work wet. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold here. The jerrycans stand out if you paint them in separate shades and put a dark wash into the recesses; the rack then suits rubbing and dust.
