Arado Ar-234 — the ninth volume of the Airframe Album series from Valiant Wings Publishing, a specialist publication on the first jet bomber to see operational service.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a specialist publication for modelers, not a kit. The ninth volume of the numbered Airframe Album series of the British publishing house Valiant Wings Publishing was written by Richard A. Franks and devoted to the first jet bomber that reached operational service.
The Arado Ar 234 Blitz was powered by a pair of Junkers Jumo 004 engines. The prototypes took off from a jettisonable trolley and landed on extendable skids, and only the production B version was given conventional retractable landing gear. From the fall of 1944 the machines flew mainly reconnaissance tasks over western Europe, where there was nothing to catch them because of their speed; the best known combat appearance was the attacks on the bridge at Remagen. Prototypes of a four-engine C version were also built. The only surviving complete example of the type is in the United States.
For modelers who build the Ar 234 and want to check the shape of the cockpit, the landing gear and the engine nacelles, along with the form of the camouflage and markings. It will appeal to readers interested in the late development of the Luftwaffe as well.
