The set is a building accessory, not a model of the vehicle. It adds a stowage rack with a bin to the Panzer III in the Ausf. J and L versions in 1:35 scale, in the pattern that the manufacturer ties to the 10th Panzer Division. The manufacturer offers it in two versions and this is version 1, which differs from the other one in the way the supporting frame is made. The resin parts carry the detail of the hinges and the latches of the bin.
The Panzer III in the Ausf. J and L versions was among the most numerous German tanks of 1942 and 1943. Longer operations needed more supplies than the hull could hold, so unit workshops fitted racks, bins and carriers to the vehicles. Every division did it its own way, so the shape of a rack is a clue today when identifying a unit in a period photograph. The 10th Panzer Division fought in France and on the Eastern Front and ended its career in Tunisia, where it was destroyed in 1943; that is where its vehicles with field modifications are photographed most often.
Separate the parts from the print supports and dry-fit the supporting frame so that the rack sits on the outline of the hull. Bond the resin with super glue. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the rack and the bin separately and fit them to the finished vehicle, because weathering underneath them is hard to do. Run a wash into the gaps and make the planks or tarpaulins stowed in the rack yourself, so that the rack does not look empty.
It is an accessory set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
