A turned metal barrel of 75 mm caliber for a model of the German prototype heavy tank VK 36.01, listed under the designation Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B, in 1:35 scale. This is a replacement part, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set is not a tank model but a precisely turned metal barrel with which the plastic barrel from the box is replaced in a model in 1:35 scale. The metal part has a perfectly circular cross-section with no mold seam, a cleanly turned muzzle and an accurate profile. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber, which has long specialized in turned barrels and photo-etched accessories.
The VK 36.01 was a German prototype heavy tank from the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, in period documents designated also as the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B. The vehicle remained at the stage of test chassis and did not reach series production, but in its design it belongs to the line of development from which the later German heavy tanks came. That is exactly why it is a rewarding subject for modelers who devote themselves to prototypes and to dead ends of development.
Cut the plastic barrel off with a fine saw and level the cut with a file, so that the metal part seats square and does not lean. It is glued with super glue or with two-part epoxy; ordinary polystyrene cement will not join metal. Before painting, degrease the metal and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is a good idea to blacken the muzzle and to bring it out gently with pigments, so that the barrel does not look like a new product.
The set is an accessory to a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
