1:35 Canvas cover SU 76M is a resin tarpaulin from the Royal Model brand that covers the open fighting compartment of the Soviet self-propelled gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
The casting imitates a canvas tarpaulin stretched over the open casemate, complete with sag, folds and turned-over edges. That fundamentally changes the silhouette of a model and at the same time solves a practical worry: under the tarpaulin the empty interior disappears, which would otherwise have to be finished and painted in full.
The designers left out the roof deliberately, because the weight saved allowed a light chassis and weaker engines to be used. The crew paid for it every day. In the rain they stood in water, in winter in snow, and when advancing under trees all kinds of things fell into the fighting compartment. The answer was a tarpaulin stretched over a simple frame, which the soldiers spread out when the vehicle was parked up and in bad weather on the move. In period pictures it is an entirely common sight.
The casting cannot be bent, as its shape is fixed, so try it dry first and level out any play by sanding the lower edge. It is better to paint the canvas off the model, so that you can reach into all the folds. Textile has no gloss, so matte varnish and a fine filter to unify the tone come at the end. Dust settled in the folds will give the scene its credibility.
