A set of printed resin tracks of the late type for models of the German Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks of late production, in 1:35 scale from the Turkish brand Ginger Cat. For its track sets the manufacturer gives individual links with the guide horn reproduced, faithful surface detail and a resin print suitable for painting and weathering. This is an accessory to a kit, not a model of the vehicle.
The Panzer III and Panzer IV were the mainstay types of the German armored forces and were built over a long period, so something was always changing on them, the tracks included. The late type has different link detail from the early version and suits the later versions of both tanks, especially those that already carried extra armor plates and were markedly heavier. The choice of track therefore helps to place a model in the right period.
Wash printed resin tracks in warm soapy water before gluing so that the paint will hold, and cut off the supports with a saw or a cutting disc. Glue the links with cyanoacrylate glue a few at a time into longer runs, and leave the finished track hanging in the correct sag until the glue has set. The best approach is to paint the tracks off the model: a dark base, then a metallic shade with a drybrush on the edges and finally dust pigments from below. Wear a respirator while sanding.
