A set of masks for painting the road wheels of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank in 1:35 scale. The set is cut for kits from Academy. The road wheels of this tank have a prominent rubber tire band and an even more prominent disc, so an imprecise hand-drawn line between them catches the eye on the model at once.
The Pz.Kpfw. III was designed as the main battle tank of the German armored divisions and in the first years of the war it really filled that role. The steady increase in armament, however, took it to the limit of what the chassis could carry, and its place was taken over by the Pz.Kpfw. IV. The chassis of the Three then went on serving as the basis of assault guns, which were among the most numerous German armored vehicles.
The wheel is placed in the cutout in the flexible mask, which covers the rubber tire band and exposes the disc. Paint the tire band first, then fit the mask and spray over the disc. Do not stretch the mask, press it down with a pointed wooden stick once it is seated and spray perpendicular to the surface in thin coats. According to the manufacturer the masks can be used again after cleaning.
