This item from the Italian brand Royal Model adds to a Sherman kit in the diesel-engined version. It contains parts where a plastic molding can never reach scale thickness, and so lets you move the model closer to the real subject.
The M4A2 differed from the other Shermans in its powerplant: it carried a pair of coupled diesel engines and had a welded hull. In Europe the US Army preferred the gasoline versions for the sake of a single supply chain, so the diesel machines went mainly to the Marine Corps and, as part of the deliveries to the Allies, to the Soviet Union. It was in the Red Army that the M4A2 earned its reputation as a reliable tank that was comfortable to work in; Soviet crews gave it a nickname of their own. On some of the vehicles the basic 75 mm gun was later replaced by a longer 76 mm weapon.
Fit the parts on the hull first and only then the turret, otherwise finished work gets damaged while you handle it. Thin plate can be shaped accurately between two rulers. Both Soviet green and American olive drab stand up to pronounced fading of the upper surfaces and a layer of dust on the running gear; markings and tactical numbers add an interesting contrast.
