Printed tracks for the SU-122 self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale for the Tamiya kit. A replacement for plastic tracks, with a clean link profile and sharp edges on the guide horns.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of tracks for the Soviet SU-122 self-propelled gun, made by 3D printing from resin. It is a replacement part for a built model, not a vehicle kit. The printed links have sharp relief and sharp edges and they have no parting line, so they are quicker to work with than plastic tracks, which first have to be laboriously cleaned up. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Tamiya kit.
The SU-122 was built on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank and its fighting superstructure was given a 122 millimeter howitzer. It was not a tank destroyer but an assault gun, meant to destroy fortifications and firing positions with a heavy shell. Its service began in the winter of 1943 and the experience from it led to the later self-propelled guns on the same chassis. Because the vehicle shares its running gear with the T-34, its track is one of the visually most conspicuous features.
Fit the track only onto a finished running gear. Separate the parts from the supports, smooth the pads and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. They are glued with super glue. A proven painting sequence starts with a dark base, carries on with rust shades and ends with drybrushing in a steel tone on the edges of the links.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Tamiya kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
