A set of workable plastic tracks for the German Tiger I heavy tank in 1:35 scale from AFV Club, in the form for the early production series. It is not a vehicle model, but an accessory for a kit that is already built: the individual links join into a track run that stays movable and can be shaped over the road wheels.
The Tiger I weighed almost sixty tons and could not have managed across country without an exceptionally wide track. Early machines carried a combat track that had a different arrangement of the transverse ribs and a different shape of guide horn from the tracks of the later series. The track pattern is therefore one of the clues by which it can be worked out which production series a particular vehicle comes from, and on a model the wrong track is noticeable at first glance.
The track is made up of individual links, so first find out from the instructions how many of them there should be on one side. Deburr the links and sand back the mold lines; apply liquid cement sparingly and only at the designated points, so that it does not run into the joints. Modelers who have built the set point out that the link pins are small and some of them can break, so handle them carefully and reckon on a reserve. Paint the finished track separately from the hull and fit it last.
It is an accessory set, not a vehicle model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
