Riich Models 1:35 — 75 mm pack howitzer M1A1 on carriage M8 is a plastic kit of the American pack howitzer of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American light howitzer of 75 mm caliber on the wheeled carriage M8. The Riich Models brand builds its sets on a fine breakdown of parts, so the barrel, the breech and the carriage each have their own subassemblies. The sister edition of the same weapon is given with plastic parts, a thoroughly detailed gun with its carriage, decals and instructions, while paints, glue and tools are not included. The build is rather one for more experienced modelers.
The 75 mm howitzer M1A1 was an American light weapon designed so that it could be taken apart and carried by horses, mules or a truck, or dropped by parachute. That is exactly why airborne and mountain units got it and used it in Europe and in the Pacific alike. The wheeled carriage M8 added pneumatic tires to the weapon and made towing behind a vehicle possible. The howitzer had a short barrel and a low muzzle velocity, so with the steep trajectory of its shell it could reach behind obstacles that direct fire could not.
Build the carriage and the running gear first and keep checking that the wheels stand in the same plane. Align the barrel with the axis of the weapon while the glue is still soft; on a structure as intricate as this an error cannot be hidden later. Over the base shade give the weapon a wash into the recesses and chipping on the edges. Dust the wheels and the lower parts with pigment. If you are building the howitzer into a diorama with a crew, leave room for ammunition boxes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
