WWII German SPG Tiedowns (With Base Plate) 1:35 is a 3D-printed set of tie-down loops with a base plate for German self-propelled guns. It is an accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A 3D-printed detail set, not a kit of the vehicle. It holds tie-down loops in the version with a base plate, that is with the flat pad through which the loop was welded to the armor. The manufacturer also lists a second version without the plate under the next number up, so the right one has to be chosen against the real vehicle. According to the manufacturer this set is intended for the Marder 1, 2 and 3 self-propelled guns and for the Tiger I.
The Marders were improvised anti-tank mounts that the Germans built on captured and on their own chassis in order to get a gun of sufficient power into the field quickly. Small tie-down loops are visible on their superstructures and on the hulls of the heavy tanks: they held tools, spare parts, tarpaulins and equipment, and it is those that make a vehicle look like a machine in use rather than a clean model. An injection mold cannot usually manage a loop that thin and replaces it with a solid block.
The loops are tiny, so hold them on masking tape before cutting them off. Cut the print support away with a sharp blade and glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); mark the spacing out on the armor beforehand, because irregularity shows at once on a model. Apply filler primer before painting and pick the loops out with a wash once the base color is down.
The set contains only the printed parts listed. The base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
