Note that this is not a helicopter model but a set of masking templates. The box states that the set is cut for kits from the Stransky and Kovozavody Prostejov brands, and that it covers both the Astro and the Raven II form. The Czech brand Peewit makes die-cut self-adhesive masks for plastic models, typically for canopy frames and for wheels. On a light helicopter the glazing is enormous in proportion to the whole machine, so a mask saves the most work here of all types.
The Robinson R44 is a four-seat light helicopter with a piston engine which became one of the most widespread civil helicopters in the world. It is used for training, for sightseeing flights, for aerial work and for personal transport. The Astro form is the older version, while the Raven II received a more powerful engine and improved controls, so the machines differ in details, not in their overall shape. For modelers that means a wide range of color schemes, because every operator has its own markings.
Lay the masks onto clean and degreased glazing and press them down with a wooden stick or tweezers so that paint does not run under the edge. On a helicopter with large glazing, finish the interior before you set the glazing in. Civil color schemes are usually finished in gloss paint, so smooth the surface first and apply the finish in thin coats. Lift the mask shortly after the paint has dried. Glue the rotor blades last and check that all of them are at the same angle.
The set holds masks only. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
