Aber 76 mm M1A1 for the Sherman M4A1 (76), 1:72 is an accurate turned metal barrel that replaces the plastic part from a boxed kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a tank kit but an accurate accessory: a turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale that replaces the plastic barrel from a boxed kit. The maker is Aber of Poland, a specialist in metal and photo-etched parts for modelers. The metal replacement is perfectly straight, has a faithful muzzle profile and does away with the parting seams and the bow typical of an injection-molded part.
The 76 mm M1A1 gun was a more powerful replacement for the original 75 mm gun of the Sherman tank. In the M4A1 (76) version with a cast hull and a new turret it gave this most widespread Allied armored vehicle better anti-tank effectiveness against more heavily armored German vehicles at the end of the war.
Cut off the plastic barrel and clean it up, and adjust the seating face to the diameter of the metal part. Glue the metal with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a primer suitable for metal, or the paint will hold badly. Fill the transition between metal and plastic if need be.
The accessory contains no model, glue or paints; it serves to modify a kit bought separately.
