A set of rats cast in resin, meant to bring bases, dioramas and figures to life. According to the maker it contains fifteen pieces in various shapes and sizes and is designed for 1:48 scale, while it also works with larger figures. Animals are an underrated element in a diorama: they give a scene movement and say something about the setting at once.
Rats suit sewers, cellars, trenches, rubble heaps, warehouses, refuse and abandoned buildings. They are also used on figure bases in fantasy subjects and anywhere a scene is meant to look neglected or inhospitable. A single piece in the right place is enough and the area comes alive at once.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and cut the casting blocks off with a saw. Build the fur on a darker base, pull the back and the flanks out with a dry brush and apply a dark wash into the shadows. Set the tail, the ears and the paws apart with a pinker shade and suggest the eye with a dark dot with a small highlight. Finally even the surface out with a matte varnish.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
