A handheld hot air gun with a power input of 450 watts. Compared with building-trade guns it is a small tool built for the workbench: it suits places where a small area has to be heated while the tool stays in one hand. In modeling it is used for shaping plastic, for speeding up the drying of paints and fillers and in work with foam.
Heat is more dangerous on a model than in workshop work. Thin plastic warps before you notice it, and a painted surface goes dull or blisters. Work from a greater distance, keep the tool moving and check continuously what is happening to the part. With crackle paints and some effects, speeding up the drying is actively inadvisable, because the effect arises precisely from slow setting. Put the tool down only on a non-flammable mat and let it cool.
