Metal mesh with 1.3 x 0.9 holes by Plusmodel: a photo-etched fret for grilles, screens and wire mesh on models.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etched mesh has one fundamental advantage over a woven one: it is perfectly flat and the holes are exactly the same shape, so it looks like an industrial product, which a grille over an engine really is. This fret has rectangular holes measuring 1.3 by 0.9, so the structure is clearly visible. The material is cut to the shape needed and glued in place. It is not a finished part but a material for further working.
Degrease the fret and cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface or with sharp scissors, then true the edges up with a file. It is bonded with super glue applied around the edge of the opening rather than in the middle of the area, otherwise the glue soaks through and blocks the holes. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal, and apply it very thinly. Leave space visible behind the grille: sand or cut the original molded plastic area out for that reason.
The material is supplied as a fret for further working. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
