Yellow is the color with the worst covering power on a model, and yet robot kits need it for warning elements and for colored panels. A marker pen lays it down concentrated into a small area, where it covers better than a thin sprayed coat.
The tip is made of a fine spongy material and gives way to the shape of the part. The point draws thin lines and outlines edges, while the side of the tip covers a larger area in one stroke. The binder is acrylic and thins with water, so the work goes without any smell and without solvents. A dried mark can be wiped off with alcohol, which makes the marker pen a technique that forgives mistakes.
Draw the stroke smoothly and in one direction. The tip releases paint according to the pressure, so a firmer press gives a more saturated mark. When layers overlap, wait for the first one to dry, otherwise the tip dissolves it and a smear is left behind. On a vertical surface apply less paint so that it does not run.
The marker pen will be appreciated by builders of robot kits, figure painters and modelers of military subjects who need a small detail done quickly and without preparing a brush and a palette. It also suits touch-ups on finished models, where mixed paint would only go to waste.
Always put the cap back on after work, otherwise the tip dries out. If that does happen, dipping it lightly in alcohol helps.
