A tool for removing sanding dust and filings from a model before painting. Dust left on a surface shows up under the paint as grain and once the coat is on it can no longer be removed, so cleaning before spraying is one of the steps that decide the result most. Unlike blowing, a brush carries the dust away instead of scattering it around the workshop and back onto the model.
According to the manufacturer the brush has a wide soft end on one side for large faces, which does not scratch the surface, and on the other a thin stiffer end for narrow joints and engraved lines, where the dust has to be raked out rather than just swept. The bristles retract into the body on a sliding mechanism, so they do not get bent or crushed in a box.
The brush will be appreciated by anyone who sands and paints straight afterward, that is practically every modeler. It also comes into play when cleaning a finished model in a display case, where dust settles in engraved lines.
A dust collector goes well together with the brush: the brush releases the dust from the surface and the collector carries it away, so it does not settle back onto the model. Do not breathe in sanding dust; when cleaning a larger amount, work with extraction or a respirator.
