Slime Grime Light

What the product is for

A modeling effect product intended to imitate the slimy grime that settles wherever it is permanently damp. The name places it in the lighter form, that is in greenish tones that are bright rather than dark; these look like a fresh film of algae, whereas the darker variant aims at aged, ingrained dirt. It is a product for traces of service and age, not a covering paint.

Where it fits

It does its best service in places where water runs down or stands: at the waterline and under the drainage openings of ships, on the lower parts of a hull, around caps and filler necks, on stone walls and steps in a diorama, at the edges of pools and on wooden structures near the ground. The effect rests on contrast, so apply it deliberately to a few places and not over the whole surface; dirt that is the same everywhere stops looking like dirt.

• Apply it only onto a finished and dried coat, otherwise further painting would cover the effect over.
• Start weakly and add in layers; excess is harder to remove than to add.
• Run the mark in the direction the water flows, that is from the top down and away from an opening.
• Do the test on an offcut of plastic, not straight on the model.
• The thinning, the drying time and the cleaning of tools are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.

Who it is for

It suits builders of ships, military equipment, buildings and dioramas who want to give a model traces of damp and neglect. Working with it calls for no airbrush; it is applied with a brush. The model, paints, varnishes and other materials are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
