Dried plants for building trees and bushes

This is a natural material, not a plastic molding. The dried plant has thin, densely branched stems whose structure matches the crown of a tree more faithfully than a mold can imitate. That is exactly why it has been used in modeling for decades. The manufacturer Green Stuff World states that each set contains five to eight pieces about ten to twenty centimeters long and that the material can be used in all scales, though it works best in the smaller ones, where the twigs are in the right proportion to their surroundings.

Use

• Cut a piece to the height you need and clean up the lower branches to form a trunk.
• Spray the plant with paint while it is still bare; this also strengthens it.
• Apply thinned PVA glue to the painted branches and sprinkle on foliage or a fine scatter.
• Stick the trunk into a drilled hole in the base and secure it with glue.
• Handle the material with care, as the dry twigs are brittle and snap.

The set suits diorama builders, layout modelers and tabletop gamers who make their own vegetation. The work is not demanding, it only calls for patience when applying the foliage, because the growth is built up in layers and has to dry between them.
