Kovozavody Prostejov 1:72 SAAB Safir canopy mask is a pre-cut self-adhesive mask that covers the glazing of the model while the paint is sprayed. It is not a kit — you have to have the model itself.

This is a masking set — pre-cut self-adhesive templates that are stuck onto the canopy glazing of the model so that during spraying the clear part stays clean and the frames are sprayed exactly. It is not a kit — you have to have the Safir model. It is made by Kovozavody Prostejov, the Czech manufacturer that offers the Safir in 1:72 scale itself.
The frames of the canopy are narrow, curved and there are many of them. Cutting them out of masking tape by hand directly on the model is slow and inaccurate — the knife slips easily and every frame comes out a little different. A ready-made mask gives a sharp, exact edge with no paint creeping under it and the result is repeatable: the second model looks as good as the first. It saves hours of work and, above all, it protects the clear part — smeared paint on the glazing is the worst thing that can happen, because a clear part is very hard to put right and a replacement is hard to come by.
The SAAB 91 Safir is a Swedish single-engine trainer and touring aircraft for three to four people. It appeared after the Second World War and was built in Sweden and under license in the Netherlands. It stayed in the air for decades — its operators included the Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Austrian air forces, mainly for basic and instrument pilot training.
An accessory for a model, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the mask fits your particular kit.
