1:72 Hampden mask for canopy and wheel disks

Handley Page Hampden, a mask for the canopy and the wheel rims (1:72, Kovozavody Prostejov)

A set of precisely pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the British Handley Page Hampden bomber in 1:72 scale. The masks cover the extensive framing of the glazed nose and canopy and the faces of the wheel rims, so that once the paint is sprayed on you get crisp edges between the frames and the windows. It is a masking accessory, not a stand-alone model.

The real subject

The Handley Page Hampden was a British twin-engine medium bomber from the beginning of the Second World War. Its narrow fuselage with a strikingly glazed front earned it the nickname flying suitcase; it served with Bomber Command and later in the torpedo-bomber role as well.

Use

• Lift the mask off and lay it on a clean, degreased canopy; on intricate glazing, work piece by piece.
• Press the edges down and spray the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the mask.
• Mask the wheel rims separately for a crisp separation of the hubs from the tires.
• Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried.

Who the set is for

For modelers building the Hampden, whose extensive glazing is far easier to paint cleanly with accurate masks.

An accessory to a model; the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
