This is NOT an airplane model but a set of painting (masking) masks in 1:48 scale from Clear Prop Models. The masks are precisely cut from yellow kabuki paper and serve to mask the canopy frames and the glazing of the two-seat Spitfire Tr.9 trainer. Double-sided means that the set covers masking from the outside as well as the inside of the canopy.
The Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 was a two-seat training conversion of the Spitfire Mk.IX fighter with a second, raised cockpit for the instructor. The lengthened glazing with its many frames is laborious to mask, which is why a set of pre-cut masks comes in very handy.
