Opuntia, commonly called the prickly pear, is a genus of cactus with flat, paddle-like segments and is typical vegetation of dry and desert regions. In a diorama it gives a scene the convincing setting of the southern United States, Mexico, the Middle East or the Mediterranean, and supports the overall mood and the sense of scale.
Wash the castings free of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand them with your airways protected. Paint the cactus with a primer and shades of green, and bring out the transitions and the spines with dry-brushing; finish its seating into the ground with modeling putty or sand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
