A set of British early type 4 gallon petrol tins in 1:16 scale from Gecko Models - an accessory for dioramas and vehicles of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set of plastic models of British early type 4 gallon petrol tins in 1:16 scale from Gecko Models. It is not a vehicle or a figure but period equipment for bringing dioramas and scenes to life. The tins faithfully capture the characteristic shape of the thin-walled containers nicknamed flimsies.
Flat sheet metal petrol tins were used by British and Allied forces in the early period of the Second World War. The thin metal was cheap and light but prone to being punctured and to leaking fuel. The practical shortcomings of these containers later led to the introduction of the sturdier jerrycan.
Clean the flash off the parts, glue them and use them as scattered or stacked fuel stores beside vehicles and positions. A combination of chipped paint, rust and spilled fuel done with washes and pigments looks striking; it is precisely the period wear that turns these containers into a convincing diorama element.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
