This is an add-on set, not a vehicle model. It contains U-shaped shackles with a cross pin, which on the real vehicle joined the tow cable to the eye on the hull. On a model this is a detail that kits usually offer as a solid plastic molding with the eye filled in, because a mold cannot produce an opening of that size. The printed part, by contrast, has the shackle genuinely open, so a cable passes through it and the joint looks as if it works. The set covers the Tiger, the Tiger II, the Jagdtiger and the Panther.
A tow cable was compulsory equipment on heavy vehicles: machines weighing tens of tons bogged down in the field regularly and could not free themselves under their own power. The cable was carried stowed on the sides or on the rear of the hull, and the shackle formed the end fitting by which it was attached to the towing eye.
The set is for modelers of German equipment who are finishing off the external stowage of the vehicle. The work is small but the result shows at once, because the cable lies on the most exposed surface of the hull.
It is not a vehicle model. The base kit, paints, the cable and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
