This set from Eduard brings detailed external stores for models of the American F/A-18C carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a standalone aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified weapons and pylons from the box with more accurate parts. The armament is one of the most visible elements of a finished model, so working it up raises the overall impression considerably.
It is a collection of fine parts made with modern 3D printing in resin, complemented by attachment points and small details. The parts are fitted to the undersurfaces of the wings and the fuselage in place of the original plastic components. The exact make-up and the number of pieces follow the particular package.
First wash the printed resin parts free of uncured resin residue and separate them carefully from the print supports. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Use respiratory protection when sanding and cleaning up. For a clean finish on the metal and composite surfaces of the weapons an airbrush and a good base coat work well.
The set does not contain the aircraft model itself or glue and paints. It serves as an accessory for a kit of the matching type and scale.
