Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet of the Japanese brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale which turns the Toyota Celica ST185 kit into the colors of the car with race number 8 from the Barum Rally 1996. The set is intended for the Tamiya Celica ST185 plastic kit. The package contains decals only, it is neither a model of the car nor a kit. You have to get the Celica itself separately, otherwise there will be nothing to apply them to.
This is a genuine rarity: a Czech rally and a Czech crew on a Japanese decal sheet. The Barum Rally is the most important Czech rally event: it was first run in 1971, since 1984 it has been continuously part of the European Rally Championship and it carries the name of the Barum rubber company of Zlin. The corners around Zlin, the spectators on the slopes and the night stages have made it a home motorsport festival for Czech fans. The car on this sheet was driven by Milan Dolak with his co-driver Jaroslav Palivec, in the colors of the HRS team and with the sponsor lettering Ricoh Harvilla; Harvilla is therefore not the name of the driver, but of the sponsor the car carried on its sides. The Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD (ST185) itself was a turbocharged Group A four-wheel drive car which was among the world elite in the first half of the 1990s and which then went on scoring points in European and national championships in private hands for a long time.
The basis is the surface: decals are applied exclusively to gloss clear coat. On a matte base air is trapped under the film and the decal silvers, which is the most common mistake and one you will not put right. So spray the Celica, coat it with gloss clear coat and let it cure thoroughly. Rally cars carry large areas of sponsor lettering across the fenders, sills and spoilers, so for these curved and broken areas reach for decal softener, so that the film is drawn down and does not make edges. Once it is dry comes clear coat, which seals the decals and evens out the gloss, and only then weathering, so do not swap the order. And above all: a rally car is not meant to be clean and polished. After the Barum Rally the Celica looks dusty, with stone chipping on the fenders and dried splashes along the sides. Dust pigments, a brown wash and light paint wear behind the front wheels turn the model into a race car rather than a show piece from a car showroom.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model of the car, paints, clear coats, softener and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
