1:24 Subaru Legacy RS – Upgrade Parts (for Hasegawa Kits) from Studio27 is a photo-etched detail set for the Subaru Legacy RS kit from Hasegawa. It is not a model – it is a set of additional parts for a kit you already have to own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model and it is not a kit – you will not get any car in the package. It is an additional detail set from the maker Studio27 in 1:24 scale intended to improve the Subaru Legacy RS plastic kit from Hasegawa, which you have to have. The photo-etched parts are cut exactly to the shapes of that kit, so they do not fit a kit from another maker.
The Subaru Legacy RS is the direct predecessor of the famous Impreza and Subaru's first truly serious rally weapon: a flat four (a boxer), a turbo and all-wheel drive. It was driven by Colin McRae – later the world champion of 1995 and the first Briton to take that title, and for a whole generation of fans simply a synonym for rallying, among other things thanks to the video game that bears his name. It was with the Legacy RS that McRae took his first world championship victory in New Zealand in 1993. In the same year the legendary blue and yellow 555 livery appeared at Subaru for the first time – so it does not belong on older cars.
A rally Legacy has an exposed interior: the roll cage, the racing seats, the seat belts, the fire extinguisher and the co-driver's instruments are visible through the windows. Belts assembled from photo-etched buckles and webbing look like real belts – a plastic substitute, or a missing one, kills the impression at once. The same goes for the protective grilles in front of the radiator: on a rally car they are functional protection against stones and are visible from the outside, but plastic can only manage them as a suggested engraving, a pancake. Photo-etched sheet turns them into a mesh you can see through. In practice: photo-etched sheet is bent (an etch bender, or a razor blade and tweezers at a pinch), it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue rather than plastic cement, and the original plastic detail often has to be sanded away – this step is irreversible. At the end we recommend weathering: a rally car is not supposed to be clean, dust, mud and stone chips on the fenders belong on it. For the Impreza and the Lancer Evo, Studio27 moreover makes decals for the inner headlight lenses – a detail the kits do not have.
An additional detail set, not a model. The basic kit, the glue, the paints and the tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
