A foliage mat from the German maker HEKI of a size of twenty-eight by fourteen centimeters. It is a thin fabric with foliage flakes glued on, which can be stretched and shaped, so it can be drawn over a tree armature, crumpled into a bush or laid as climbing greenery on a wall. The designation compact means a denser application than with sparser foliage mats: a crown does not come across as showing through after it and it suits trees that are meant to have full volume.
Tear a piece of the mat off and stretch it carefully to the sides until irregular gaps appear in it. It is precisely those that make a crown believable, because no tree is a continuous green ball. Lay the piece prepared in this way on the tree armature, press it down and fix it with drops of cyanoacrylate or white glue. You can scatter foliage flakes over the surplus while the glue is still damp. Light green looks best in spring and early summer scenes.
For builders of layouts and dioramas who finish their trees themselves, and for modelers who need dense greenery quickly. This is a modeling material, not a toy. The maker marks its landscaping goods as not suitable for children under fifteen years of age.
