Two strips of model hedge from the German maker HEKI with a profile of twenty-five by seven millimeters. Compared with the lower version of the same range this hedge is considerably taller, which changes its job in a scene as well: a low hedge only suggests a plot, whereas a twenty-five-millimeter strip genuinely blocks the view and divides space. On an H0 layout it matches a hedge an adult cannot see over.

How to work with the hedge

The strip is cut with scissors and glued with PVA glue directly onto the base. A taller hedge has a larger area and holds upright less well, so prop it up or press it against the base while it dries. Level the ends after cutting and sprinkle granulate over them. A real hedge is not the same height along its whole length, so thin the strip out slightly in places, and add grass or foliage at its foot so the joint with the base is not visible.
