Poplar Trees 18 cm / 3 pc

HEKI Poplars 18 cm, 3 pcs

Three finished model trees from the German maker HEKI, eighteen centimeters tall. A poplar grows tall while staying narrow, so its silhouette cannot be mistaken for any other species. A group of poplars can visually stretch a scene upward without taking the floor area a beech or oak of the same height would demand, and at the same time it hides the transition between the layout and the backdrop.

Use

• rows of trees along roads, canals and grassy strips between fields
• a vertical element in flat country
• a screen along the edge of a layout and in front of the backdrop
• a landmark by a building or a grade crossing
• a windbreak at the edge of fields and by farmsteads
• greenery along water channels and dams

How to work with the trees

The tree is pushed into a pre-drilled hole or glued by the foot of the trunk. With a tall slender shape stability is essential, so make the hole deeper and fix the trunk in it with a drop of glue. Poplars almost never occur on their own in the landscape; they were planted in avenues and along grassy strips between fields, so set them one behind another at uneven spacing and slightly tilted. Add grass under the crown so that the transition from the ground is not abrupt.

Who the set is for

For layout and diorama builders who need a vertical element in flat country, and for modelers building rural avenues. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
