Autumn is a rewarding season for a scene: the crowns break into yellow, ocher and rust, the grass fades and the light is low, so even an ordinary field track looks interesting. That is exactly why autumn trees cannot simply be dropped into a summer scene. Once you reach for autumn, the grass, the fields, the puddles on the track and the fallen leaves at the foot of the trunks should match it, otherwise the trees look like a foreign element.
The package holds ten trees 10 to 14 cm tall, that is a whole group of differing maturity at once. In H0 scale, that is 1:87, this range corresponds to trees roughly 9 to 12 meters tall, and in 1:72 scale to approximately 7 to 10 meters. Make use of the different heights: put the tallest pieces at the back or in the middle of a group and the lower ones at the edges and by a road. Ten trees of the same height in a row give a model away at once, whereas an irregular group looks natural.
Seat the trunk in a hole drilled in the base to match its diameter and secure it with glue so that the tree stands square. Then scatter leaves under the crown and add grass; fallen leaves lie thickest on the windward side and against obstacles, not in an even circle. Let the trees breathe visually too and leave open space between groups, so that the scene does not become crowded.
