Eighteen coniferous trees 14 to 22 cm tall. This is a set of mature trees: even the lowest piece in the package is taller than an ordinary background tree, so it suits places where a wood is really meant to rise above a scene. These are finished trees from the Heki range, which are not assembled or finished off.
A tall conifer hides the edge of a scene, breaks up a long view along the line and gives scale to the buildings and vehicles beneath it. Fourteen to twenty-two centimeters corresponds in 1:87 scale to trees roughly 12.2 to 19.1 meters tall, in 1:72 scale to about 10.1 to 15.8 meters and in 1:35 scale to approximately 4.9 to 7.7 meters. In the larger scales, then, these are sturdy specimens rather than continuous growth.
The taller the tree, the more important the fixing. Drill a hole in the base to match the diameter of the trunk, glue the tree in and let it cure in the upright position. Eighteen pieces are enough for the edge of a wood or for a group on a slope; lower trees from other packages suit the inside of the growth. Keep the spacing irregular and mask the trunks at ground level with granulate, moss or static grass, so that the tree grows out of the scene instead of standing on it as if on a plate. Try the position dry before gluing.
