Five mature model larches in a golden autumn coloring. Compared with the shorter set in the same line these are trees for the first plane: at fourteen to eighteen centimeters tall they represent fully grown individuals in the smaller layout gauges and act as a backdrop in spacious scenes. They are supplied finished and foliated.
A large tree fills a different role in a scene from a pile of small ones. It hides an unwanted view, divides the area into two planes and gives the viewer the scale by which they read the size of everything else. That is exactly why tall trees are bought a few at a time rather than by the dozen, and placed with thought: one toward the front at the margin, two more in the middle distance.
The set is aimed at layout builders in the smaller gauges who want genuinely mature trees in the foreground, and at modelers of large dioramas. Production takes place in Germany and both shaping and foliating are finished by hand, so every piece looks a little different and the group does not read as machine-made. Store the small trees standing up and do not weigh them down, otherwise the crown is crushed and its shape is then laborious to put right.
