A box with thirty-five finished conifers whose height runs from five to twelve centimeters. One set thus covers the whole range of heights in a forest, from young self-seeding to mature individuals. The small trees are supplied foliated and the manufacturer intends them for H0 and TT gauges.
Put the tallest pieces aside and plant them last, as overtopping individuals rising above the level of the forest. The medium size forms the basic mass, the lowest belong at the margins and in the gaps. This approach is faster than planting as you go, and the result has an uneven upper outline, which is exactly what sets a real forest apart from a plantation.
The box is aimed at layout builders who need to forest an area in one purchase and at modelers of larger dioramas. The core of each small tree is an injection-molded plastic armature with hand-bent branches; production takes place in Germany, so the pieces differ slightly in shape. The small trees can be supplemented with a few more striking specimens from another line, so that the stand has prominent individuals too. Before you start planting, sort the small trees by height into three piles; the outline of the stand can then be controlled instead of arising by chance, and the work goes noticeably faster.
