A set of two tunnel portals for a double-track line in H0 gauge, that is in 1:87 scale, from the German manufacturer HEKI. The portals are made of plastic and there are two in the package, so they cover both ends of one tunnel. It is not a kit of a whole tunnel: a portal is the face that closes the opening in the terrain to the eye and hides the bare framework of the layout behind it.
First check the clearance: run cars on the outer track through the opening dry, because a double-track portal does not tolerate being shifted even by a millimeter. Glue the portal with cement for plastic or with PVA glue and shape the terrain to it only afterwards, so that no gap stays between the face and the rock. Painted stone comes alive with a dark wash run into the joints and a light drybrush on the edges. Above the arch a faint soot smudge is worth adding, as it gives away that trains run here.
It suits builders of H0 layouts with a double-track line and diorama builders who want a true tunnel ending in the landscape. Two pieces in the package solve the whole tunnel, so both sides look the same.
The portals are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
