Natural track ballast of porphyry, 500 gram box, for H0 gauge. Crushed stone in a warmer shade for the ballast bed.
Responsibility details are not available.
Scatter ballast of crushed porphyry, that is, a stone with a warmer tone shifted toward brown and red. The box weighs half a kilogram and the grain size matches H0 gauge. The material is poured onto the bed under the track and fixed with thinned glue.
The color of the ballast bed is one of the few elements with which country can be suggested on a model. Porphyry is commonly used on real railroads and its warmer tone looks less hard than basalt. On a model it works well on older lines, on branch lines and anywhere a scene is to look settled. It also takes heavy weathering, because a darker wash is not lost on a warm base.
For layout builders finishing off the permanent way and for modelers of railroad dioramas. The manufacturer is a German company specializing in scenery accessories, and production takes place in Germany. Safety note: a loose natural material does not belong in the hands of children under three because of the risk of inhalation. Test the shade on a scrap before starting work, because once glue is flooded on the stone darkens and the result differs from the dry sample.
