A decal set in 1:48 scale devoted to Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb fighters in the service of the Turkish Air Force. Against an ordinary sheet it has something extra: according to the name of the item a bonus resin rudder part is included in the package. It is therefore not a kit but a combination of markings and one additional part for a model that you obtain separately.
The Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerously produced version of the whole family and became the backbone of British fighter aviation in the middle period of the war. The Vb sub-version carried mixed armament in the wing and differed from the early marks in its engine and in details of the airframe. Machines of this version reached users outside the main theaters as well and carried different schemes and national insignia. The detail of the rudder belongs on Spitfires among the places that changed during production, which is why a replacement resin part is a welcome accessory — it settles a shape that need not match the form you want in one particular kit.
First wash the resin part in lukewarm soapy water, so that it is rid of the remains of the release agent from the mold — without that neither paint nor glue will hold on it. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, never break it, and level the surface on sanding paper. Protect your airways when sanding resin, as the dust is fine. It is bonded with super glue, as cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Once the part is in place and sprayed over, the decals follow: a glossy base, a close trim, a decal softener drop by drop and a sealing varnish at the end.
The package holds decals and an additional resin part. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
